My Stamping Story

I have some stamping cousins (Chelly, Carla, and Candy. They are sisters, can't you tell?) that have always gave out b-e-a-utiful cards. It NEVER ocurred to me that I could make cards like that. I don't have an artistic bone in my body, though I am realizing that some bones, like maybe my pinky toe, may be slightly more creative than I originally thought.

In June of 2005, my son Asa was stillborn. Through my faith in Jesus, I managed to hold up better than expected, but it is still a heart wrenching experience. My cousin Chelly, who had also lost a child realized I needed to get my mind off of things and get out of my house. She was going to a stamping class and invited me along. I was a little nervous, I had never stamped, but wanted to give it a shot. Little did we know it was an ADVANCED class. Yikes!!! I spent the whole night wondering what on earth was this "dimensional" thingy everyone kept talking about was.

But I had a great time, made amazing cards and was soooo proud of myself. I stamped here and there after that at workshops, and later at home with supplies Chelly donated to my meager stash. My card progression went from Advanced...to preschool....now to some where at junior high level :) Here are the cards I made at that very first class with (my now upline) Cindy Lawrence.

  1. Fun blog, Kristy! I love your "card progression" - and the lighthouse, especially, is gorgeous.

  4. I love these cards! Especially the one with the masking tape - I have seen it as "faux leather" but not as just a beautiful multicolored embellishment!
